I shared this image on Instagram last night and in the caption mentioned that I was doing an all black shower in the master bathroom. And while the entire shower, floors and walls will be matte black tiling and the bathroom vanities will also be all black, I assure you there will be plenty of white here as well. Although I LOVE the look of glossy black tiles, I know water spots will be much more noticeable on a glossy finish, so I opted for matte black. We will see……

I considered doing the shower floor and walls in the same tile, but ultimately decided to only do the hexagon on the floor. If budget wasn't always trying to keep me from being awesome 😉 I would have done matte black marble walls in the shower......but money is actually a thing. So instead, I'm going with extra large scale black rectangular wall tiles, brick laid with black grout. (Minimalist interiors)

Tile Trend – Black Hexagon Tile Floors
Earlier this week I talked about our Hoarder House master bathroom design plans, and you saw the black hexagonal tile we chose for the flooring. Once I zoned in on the black hexagon tile look, I seem to have seen it everywhere! Our friends at church showed us their newly remodeled tub and they also did the floor in black hexagon tiles. The hexagonal shape is here to stay and while it can totally bring a modern look to your floor, it's also what I would consider a 'safe' and 'long-lasting' style. My absolute favorite is black tile with a black grout look…. We wanted to go this route in our master bathroom, and although we went with the blackest grout, it still ended up being more of a gray color. So that was a lesson for us on how much water we mix in our grout…I have lots of pins in my Main Bath inspiration board that show off the beautiful black hexagon tiling. The first tile is obviously my favorite since it's the one we chose for our bathroom. I love how it enhances the look of the black hexagon tiles by adding texture. 😉 Only time will tell…
Tile choice number two is a safe bet if you are taking the black hex route. The third tile is subtly different from the other larger format hexagons as it has a glossy finish. Some of the other hex tiles may give a more industrial feel, but not this one, thanks to that beautiful white veining that screams high end. Anyway, it's a new take on the black hexagon floor that I seriously considered for our bathroom. As with the large format marble hexagon, the seventh tile above is a mosaic version. If you're worried about a 9″ black marble hexagon overrunning your bathroom, opt for the smaller format hexagon mosaics instead. So, I know that option eight doesn't totally fit into the category of black hex tiles. But, it's so fun and pretty close… I think if you love black hexagon flooring but are worried it's too dark and heavy in your space, this tile will give you that fun shape and add a bright pattern in same time. time!
